SCAY News October 18, 2009
Hello everyone,
Hope everyone has power by now and has survived our October snow storm without too much damage! A few things as we enter a warmer, sunnier week:
Aqualaps Update:Aqualaps is only one week away. Remember to get those pledges in! This is an important fundraiser for us. The money earned will help pay for needed equipment and supplies for the swim team. It will also be used to pay meet entries for all scheduled YMCA meets this year. The event starts at 1:00pm sharp on Sunday, October 25. Goodies will be provided for the swimmers after they complete their swim. Volunteer sign ups to help with registration, lap counting, refreshment serving, etc. are on the bulletin board. Any questions, please contact Joan Schrock at rosjmsva@adelphia.net. Thanks again to Joan for all of her hard work organizing this!
Communications Update:We are still working on finalizing swimmer registrations and making sure that everyone is on the email list and has a folder in the YMCA file cabinet. Please be sure that you have registered at the front desk. Also please make sure that we have your updated swimmer Health form. (yellow form in file on L side of file cabinet) Shawn Quinn has offered to help with the Web Site this year. (thanks again, shawn!) Please visit the site at www.aqualions.org for the latest updates.
Concessions:Roxane Miller and Terry Cumins have volunteered to run concessions at meets again this year. (a huge thanks to both!) They have requested that you please bring in your drinks this week. Please leave them in the corner by the file cabinet. Roxane and Cory Miller will come in each day and move the drinks to the SCAY closet and organize them for the season. Please label your drinks so that you can be credited. Drink assignments are as follows:
Once case per each swimmer in their appropriate age groups:
Cubs/Pride: 100% Juice Boxes
D1: Gatorade
D2: Water
D3: Pepsi/Coke/Sprite/ Sierra mist or similar
JR/SR: Diet Coke/Sprite/Pepsi or similar.
Thanks everyone. Meet assignments for concession donations will be made once we get the final meet schedule.
Officials:There will be an officials training course offered at the Bellefonte YMCA for both Level I and Level II on November 21. Please contact Cory Miller at crmiller@uaja.com if you are interested. It is a great way to be involved!
Last Reminder, Halloween Meet Entries Due:
Meet entries are due by the end of practices tomorrow, Monday October 18. Please fill out 3 individual events per swimmer on the forms at the Y. Relays will be assigned by coaches. No fees are due, but please remember that “no shows” will be charged the cost of the entry.
As always, if you have any questions or if I can be of any help, please don’t hesitate to contact me at jkoberna@stompit.net or at 466-6163.
Looking forward to a great season!
Jenny
